Story
Get Lost In the Sauce.
Some stories are just too crazy to believe. This is one of those stories…
It started when native Tucsonan Patrick McColley went to New York City on vacation looking to expand his culinary pallet. While he was out there he tried an array of different restaurants all around the Big Apple but there was one that truly stood out, Village Square Pizza.
This is where Pat met Mario.
Village Square owned by Frank Badali, Marios dad, was famous for its Sicilian Style Pies. Hailing from Sicily, both Mario and his father have perfected their pie making craft and the taste is nothing less than authentic. Pat being the pizza lover he is couldn’t help but to return multiple times. Pat and Mario instantly became friends.
Not only did Pat and Mario hit it off, Pat loved the Pizza so much he was willing to pay ridiculous amounts for shipping those Village Squares overnight from NY to AZ because they were just that good. This is where Pat had an idea.
Pat asked Mario how he felt about maybe moving out to Arizona and opening a Pizza spot in Tucson. Pat flew Mario and his wife out and Mario instantly fell in love with the Old Pueblo. After getting the blessing from his father, Mario decided to bring his talents out to the Southwest. 5 months later here we are and Squared Up Pizza is born.
Located in the Park Place Mall Food Court, Squared Up Pizza is proud to bring Mario and his Fathers Sicilian recipes to Arizonans. Using a special Filtration system that turns Tucson water into NY water, all the Pies are made with New York water for that authentic New York taste.
